Invisalign Vs. lingual Orthodontics

Hi All,
There are three very interesting articles on Invisalign that I recommend reading . The thoughts presented here can apply as well to other techniques being promoted by big business.
1. Evaluation of Invisalign treatment utilizing the American Board of Orthodontics Objective Grading System for dental casts, Scott Vincent D.M.D., American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Vol 127, No.2, February 2005, pg 268.
2. Invisalign clinical trials needed, Timothy Wheeler D.M.D., American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Vol 127, No.5, May 2005, pg.
527
3. Invisalign and changing relationships, Christine P. Ellis D.D.S. M.S.D., American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Vol 127, No.7, July 2005, pg.20A.
The biggest problem that I have is with colleagues that support this or any public company that dictate through heavy advertising to the public what they need. As stated in one of the articles, they, these publicly traded companies, are in the business of making money. They will do whatever it takes to make a profit for themselves and their stock holders, even at the demise of our specialty. I am curious as to the interest of those that support such a structure.
Food for thought.
Fred Marconi Jr., D.D.S., M.S.
Dear Fred,
I fully agree with you that there is big danger when money and science meet. Yet, it is a good technique once used properly.
