The purpose of this presentation was to demonstrate how the detailing phase can be achieved with the lingual straight wire (LSW) technique.
It is not uncommon for teeth to still not be attractive, even though they are aligned following treatment. By other hand, finishing in lingual orthodontics can be challenging and can involving use of various techniques and accessories. A final detailing procedure includes steps like: artistic bends, dental bleaching, enamel polishing, incisal edge recontouring, intermaxilar elastics, interproximal reduction, gingivectomy/gingivoplasty, and oclusal adjustments. Various finishing procedures were showed, highlighting the importance of oclusal – static and dynamic, periodontal, and esthetic parameters, to finish orthodontic cases with excellence. Clinical cases were used to demonstrate various aspects of the finishing and detailing process. Research findings were also considered demonstrating the importance of a successful bonding procedure in the detailing phase.
The management of anterior dental aesthetics and the importance it plays in our ‘aesthetically driven society’ were addressed.

In today’s clinical environment the finish must not only address the goals of aesthetics, function, and stability but must be completed in an effective and efficient way. With LSW technique the detailing can be done in a simple and shorter way.
